At this rate my main excuse for not doing my end of year music recap is starting to have excuses of its own, so I'm just saying screw it and getting on with it.
However, I've not decided yet how I want to go about doing it, so in the meantime--because I know the two people who read this are waiting with bated breath for something--I give you the year in review in two parts: the first six months and the second six months. In the first half, I did some things that I can hopefully look back on and be somewhat proud of, and was immeasurably sad (more visibly than not) but tried very hard not to go crazy because of it; in the second half I did some things that I will probably look back on and not be terribly proud of, and was still immeasurably sad (though less visibly than not) so went willingly a bit crazy feeling justified because of it.

I've already established my penchant and my theory about musicians named Br[i/y]an . So it should be no surprise that I end up associating this year with offerings from yet another favorite Brian of mine.
1st half
Running Up That Hill (cover) - Placebo
And if I only could,
Make a deal with God,
And get him to swap our places,
Be running up that road,
Be running up that hill,
Be running up that building.
If I only could, oh...
Every You Every Me - Placebo
Sucker love, a box I choose.
No other box I choose to use.
Another love I would abuse,
No circumstances could excuse.
...
Like the naked leads the blind.
I know I'm selfish, I'm unkind.
Sucker love I always find,
Someone to bruise and leave behind
