I've expressed my love for the two Brians with an 'i' but haven't done much except a passing nod to the last one in the triumvirate of Bri/yans. I was delighted to find this on youtube, right after I bought Bryan MacLean's album called ifyoubelievein, which is a collection of his demos hi mom discovered in the garage, in the early 90s (go mom!). He seems to have fared better with the demons that appear to plague the very [musically] talented, although that depends on your perspective of whether finding god isn't the biggest demon of all!
This is him singing the acoustic cover of his most famous compositions, released on what is arguably one of the greatest rock albums ever, preceded by another well known song of his. I love that you can compare his original version of Alone Again Or to the studio album (there layered with Arthur Lee's harmonies; interestingly, I think most people don't realize that Lee does not sing lead on the most famous song released by Love.) Barber John is a lovely tune, too, and it just goes to show, you don't have to be this fantastically multi faceted, multi layered piece song to get my attention. I can go for simple, too.
Barber John (0:01) and Alone Again Or (4:02) (acoustic versions) - Bryan MacLean
