Let me tell you now

Possibly if it were not for my admittedly crush-like affection for Vampire Weekend--or, more specifically, Rostam Batmanglij who does the musical arrangements for the band--as well as my growing fondness for Wes Miles, who is the singer for Ra Ra Riot, I would not have (a)been aware of this cover (b)given it more than a passing glance (c)started playing it repeatedly, moving from speakers to headphones, so I could appreciate the layering better, and so giving it a rating of 'solid' instead of my original 'nice attempt'.

However, a, b, and c all came to pass, so here's another
cover to either dig or dimiss, as you please:

I Want You Back (cover) - Discovery

P.S. Saw this on youtube. I'm mostly ambivalent about KT Tunstall's songs*, but I confess I like this particular cover. I mean, yeah, okay, I'm a sucker for chick in boots playing guitar and singing with a somewhat gravelly voice (not to mention that cute Scottish burr when she talks, and the dimple), but I'm not made of stone, all right?

*I do, however, dig quite a bit her live performances and how she accompanies herself by doing a record and immediate repeated replay of certain things, like the beatboxing on the guitar, the tambourine shake (in addition to the beat with her foot), and finally backing herself up with her own voice. Not sure if that is an original schtick of hers, or something she picked up from someone else, but it's pretty cool to watch, nevertheless.

I Want You Back - Live (cover) - KT Tunstall
