Lather, rinse, repeat

Sometimes I wonder that my family hasn't gone mad, after everything that's happened in the last four months.

Sometimes I think we have and we're probably not quite aware of it.

Also, if the universe is so hard up for entertainment that it just sits around waiting for the second that all of us slightly relax, and maybe even entertain the notion of a normal day or--oh, boldness--two, just so it can jump right on top of us and crap all over us, I think it's not looking hard enough. There are plenty of things it can channel its fucking sick sense of humor toward (like the cop that gave me a speeding ticket on my way back from handing my mom off to my sister at the hospital, who could plainly see that I was in need of a good eye scrubbing and nose blowing and proceeded to talk to the side of the car while citing me.)

Or maybe it's just that hitting the little people is more fun, like the kids who go stomping over the poor, defenseless ants that just want to take that lousy piece of rice back to their hole.

Okay, I guess I needed to get that off my chest.

I've got half a dozen things written up, that just need to have the right music linked...but I keep getting distracted by new music. Which makes sense; that stuff was the soundtrack to the past and this is the stuff for now. I keep fighting it, cos I'd hate to look back on all these great songs some day, and then hate them for the memories, you know?

Then again, I'd rather remember than forget.

I have a feeling this is going to get added to my 2008 Sucked playlist (aka what I listen to when I'm trying to fall asleep before insomnia kicks in for good for the night). As I described it to one person, there is a feel of first love/unrequited high school crush/teenage nostalgia about it. Not surprising, I think, then, that it is part of the Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist soundtrack. (By the by, I loved the book; itt's probably one of my favorite YA books this side of the millenium). As I described it to another person (yes, I do love to share the wealth when it comes to music I like!), I also keep thinking there's something familiar about the little upward lilt on the "begging you..." line(s) but, derivative or not, it's a sweet little turn (and song). Plus, I am a total sucker for strings in any song.
