I've not been shy about my opinion about Lily Allen elsewhere: I find her deliberate precocity quite annoying. (Deliberate precocity sets off my annoyance alarm and kicks my sarcasm level into high alert, as do false modesty and exaggerated twee. What can I say, I prefer [naturally] straightforward smart to [attempted] coyly clever. Anyway.)
I came across the mashup at the end of this post a fortnight ago (I love the word fortnight. If I can use it, I will. No, that is not me being deliberately precocious, either; I'm being stubbornly intelligent about keeping a great word alive. Quite different, I assure you. Heh). So, as I was saying, came across the mashup, which piqued my interest because of its use of one of my favorite IS songs. I wasn't thrilled to see it paired up with an Allen song, but gave it a listen anyway and, well, was delighted with the result. Of course, then I had to go look up the Lily Allen song and, despite finding the official video and the song still solidly in the spectrum of precocious, I willingly sat and listened through the whole thing.
What really sold me on the song, though, and possibly the teeniest bit on Allen herself was this live performance of the song. She seems far less interested in how she comes off singing the song and more in just, well, singing it. Pushes the song and performance towards the endearing end of the spectrum.
Not Fair (live) - Lilly Allen
Update: For some reason, this video keeps getting pulled, and I keep finding new ones. Anyway, this one has a little intro that was missing on the other versions, so the frame of reference for what is in the comment below is actually around minute 2:45 or so, now.

That live performance? Eh. She is who she's singing about, there.
(But I think you like her here because of the hand in pocket awkward stand around 1:45 or so.)
