If you want to ensure there is no sibling rivalry over the available songs for your daughters, you'd do well to name one Jolene, after naming the other one Delilah. Of course, you may also end up with a lot of bad covers of one particular song about her name, too, but sometimes you have to weigh good against the bad.

I admit, I am liking Ray LaMontagne more and more, as I listen to him. I still think this is his best song ever (and no, it did not escape me that one of the 'Jolene' songs is by an artist who wrote a tribute to another artist(taking liberty with the word artist, in that second instance) who's half of a duo that very prominently covered a 'Jolene' song--just not his. Poor Ray. Better luck next time.)

I confess, I did not know of Jeremy Fisher until I started tallying up all the Jolene songs I knew and wondered if there were more I didn't know about. I am definitely checking more of his songs out; there is something soothingly familiar about his voice. And the riff: it sounds like an upbeat Elliott Smith intro, something with a little Paul Simon twist, doesn't it?

I think Cake is one of those groups that you either like or you don't, and either camp can't ever quite understand why the other feels the way they do. Much like how people feel about cake, I think.

And that's all folk...okay, okay, I know. Of course I wasn't going to forget. Duh.
