So, last year I heard on the radio about this great new song called 'I Kissed a Girl' and I thought to myself, huh? Why is everyone suddenly raving about Jill Sobule's old song? I mean, sure it's catchy and all, I like it quite a bit myself, and it has a pretty funny video, complete with a whacked out version of Princess Leia hair and Fabio, to boot, but still. Isn't thirteen and some change years a little too late too late to be suddenly celebrating a song?
Turns out, of course, the noise was all about the Kate Perry song of the same name. A song which sounds like a knocked off version of...well, it sounds like a knocked off song, period, doesn't even really matter what.I mean, seriously, did you listen to the lyrics? (Hah, I just watched the video for the first time and first thing in my mind was how she looks like she even knocked off her look (from Zoey Deschanel) Anyway...)
I guess back in '95 it wasn't as chic (chick? I kill me) to get effusive about girl on girl action in a song, as it is now. Or maybe Jill Sobule should've just left well alone with the Leia inspired hairdo. Personally, I find nothing redeeming about the Kate Perry song,
Anyway, one song no longer available on youtube and since the other's already got embedding disabled, I figured I'd go linked al the way; at least that way I can spare you any ads.
