Yes, yes, yes

I'm not a snob about music. Well, not popular music. It does break my heart a little bit, though, when all people seem to know about certain bands is just a couple of their 'anthem' songs to the exclusion of the rest of their vast discography and, usually, even better gems than the same old ones everyone trots out. It especially happens a lot with bands from the 60s and 70s; you know, back when they used to do concept albums where pretty much every song was a strong contender for what would today be considered as the hit maker for the album. Yes, these songs that are almost immediately synonymous with the band are great songs, but how about looking at some of the other ones? Or even, for pete's sake, picking up the album the always mentioned songs came from and giving some of the other ones a listen?

Maybe I am a snob. Not about music, but about listening to music.

Autumn Almanac - The Kinks
The lyrics? Are simply awesome.

From the dew-soaked hedge creeps a crawly caterpillar,
When the dawn begins to crack.
It's all part of my autumn almanac.
Breeze blows leaves of a musty-coloured yellow,
So I sweep them in my sack.
Yes, yes, yes, it's my autumn almanac.

Friday evenings, people get together,
Hiding from the weather.
Tea and toasted, buttered currant buns
Can't compensate for lack of sun,
Because the summer's all gone.

La-la-la-la...
Oh, my poor rheumatic back
Yes, yes, yes, it's my autumn almanac.
La-la-la-la...
Oh, my autumn almanac
Yes, yes, yes, it's my autumn almanac.

Posting this performance because it is so deliciously 60s. Yes, yes, yes... I'd like to have some of what he's having.
