Here is a good for a laugh confession for you: remember the type of dancing Claire/Molly Ringwald and Bender/Judd Nelson do in the Breakfast Club? We used to rock out those same steps, especially to this song. I am simply thankful that people who I know for a fact have photographic evidence of it have (a) not discovered Facebook or its ilk (b)left those photos behind (c)enough sense left in them to know any resurrection of such photos would result in a long and painful death.
To Cut A Long Story Short (I Lost My Mind) - Spandau Ballet
The more 80s videos I see, the more thankful I am that I never got to see the majority of them when they first came out. Because I am not sure I could have looked beyond the visual cheesiness, even if I did somehow do it for the cryptic (and yet, still cheese implying) lyrics.
Also, tried some of the steps just now and man, I either had more flexible ankles back then, or was more comfortable with looking ridiculous at the cost of maintaining my balance. (However, since no one in the house even batted an eye, when I suddenly appeared in the living room, performing what probably looked like me having a spasm on some imaginary turning pulley system, I think it is safe to say that my ridiculous is accepted as SOP around here...)
Oh, here we go. Crappy quality, but I think that's because the better ones have gotten pulled. Anyway, 0:23-0:27 and 1:14-1:17 is what I am talking about. Awesomely awful, no?
